Mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani is under fire for his recent embrace of controversial Imam Siraj Wahhaj. In a post on X Mamdani wrote:

"Today at Masjid At -Taqwa I had the pleasure of meeting with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, one of the nation's foremost Muslim leaders and a pillar of the Bed-Stuy community for nearly half a century."

Here are 4 facts YOU should know about Siraj Wahhaj, a/k/a Jeffrey Kearse:

1. 1. Wahhaj is an unindicted co-conspirator in the World Trade Center Bombing and served as a character witness for the blind Shiek Omar Abdel-Rahman, the convicted architect of the bombing in which six people were killed and more than 1,000 injured. In his testimony, Wahhaj described the Sheikh as a "respected scholar" and a "bold, a strong preacher of Islam" .

Omar Abdel-Rahman was an influential figure for al-Qaeda terrorists, known for issuing fatwas (religious rulings) calling for acts of terrorism. He was himself implicated in plotting and conspiring to carry out various acts of terror. The Egyptian national was arrested in 1993, tried, and ultimately convicted in 1995 on dozens of charges, including conspiracy in the 1993 World Trade Center bombing

3. Wahhaj a/k/a Jeffrey Kearse was trained by the virulently anti-American Louis Farrakhan and served as a Minister in Farrakhan's Nation of Islam. Farrakhan embraced the mullahs of the Iranian regime and visited Tehran where he joined in their chants of "Death To America" . He is known as the minister of hate because of his preachings against America, the West, Jews, Whites and the LGBTQ community. Wahhaj explained in this video that he was trying to keep his affiliation with Farrakhan secret. .
